Responding Heads – Speak to Your Computer
I don’t know about you, but I love it when I see a movie and someone simply talks to a computer and it does everything that person says. If you like this too and would like to use your voice, not your hands and fingers to control your computer, then I have good news for you.
There are specialized software applications that allow you to do just that. Download and install such an application and you can speak into the mike and the application will do what you tell it to.
One such application is Responding Heads, an application that weighs in at some 8.5 MB. The download size should not pose a problem if you’re on a good internet connection. You should be able to download the app in just a moment. Once downloaded, you need only install the application on your Windows-powered computer. It should work on all versions of the Microsoft-developed Windows operating system.
Speaking of working, Responding Heads does not ask for anything to do its job. The application is freeware, meaning you do not have to pay a thing to use it.
What can the application do? To put it briefly, it allows you to communicate with your computer. You speak into the mike, the computer answers back. Microsoft voice recognition is used to understand what you say; Microsoft text-to-speech is used for the app to respond.
You can talk your computer and tell it to launch programs for example. The small animated head on the desktop (hence the name Responding Heads I presume) will confirm that the spoken command you just gave. For example if you say “Open Mail”, it will confirm that you said that and will proceed to opening say Outlook Express.
If you want to control your computer using your voice, not your fingers, you need to take a look at Responding Heads. This application is quite easy to use and doesn’t cost a thing.
